    It took you a while to get there but thanks for your insights, Jason. I still have a quad copy of *Dark Side* on a German LP. I had a cheap Sanyo 4-channel system in the '70's (SQ Logic) & the back to front separation wasn't very good. (Oddly, it seemed to work better with Ambisonics LPs in the '80's.) I see Rhino is having a sale so I'll probably get the box. I have a few quad Blurays & SACDs from Rhino, Vocalion & Audio Fidelity. Almost all of them sound very good on my 5-channel setup (no, my speakers are not all identical). "Gimmicky" mixes are surprisingly rare.

    I took the opportunity on a rainy fourth of July to go see this movie. Concerned about the reviews and those piling on regarding its lower revenue the first few days. My take is exactly as the reviewer stated. Two things you immediately come away with is: 1) the eagerness to see the story threads and plots continue 2) the set pieces and detail (aside from the known incredible vista shots and landscape) make you want to see again to observe all those objects in the scenes. Yes, some dialogue in some scenes is a tad weak, but there is some great concentration on "coming of age" morals and ethics as it pertains to retribution and vengeance that keep you on edge in one of the story threads and Costners' bad "fate" in his story line just made me say how many people heading west in that expansion also didn't create their livelihood, but were a product of fate. I give it a solid B, but more importantly, is a quick 3 hour run needed to be seen in the theatre.

    Guys, we had a fantastic run! 1977 through to when Lucas dumped his business to disney. It's done now. Six awesome movies to live out the rest of our lifetime. About the same amount of good albums, from great rock bands. George is in his senior years. As much as I love Philip Glass, I do realize he's older than Lucas. Philip quite frankly, ain't gonna do another tour of Einstein On The Beach (Come on Phil.. just one more time at BAM! ✊🏿) Let's, right the fuck, right now end all the talk about disney, kk and what have you. IT'S OVER GUYS! Unless it's George is at the helm, WE GOTTA LIVE WITH THE SIX SW MOVIES George has left us. For God sake, we now got UA-cam! Watch something else. When's the last time you binge-watched Raiders? THX-1138? George's USC student films? Have you seen even Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress!? Have you read The Hero of a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell? If you have have another go! Some day George will pass on. Are we then still in circles blaming K.Kennedy and B.IGER? Use the Force! Fr fr!! I love us. We are moving on. Let's go!!

    A kids movie. Ahhhhh...yes. Kids movies typically have people slicing off limbs and heads. They also have the villain murdering children, heroes being tortured, and others being burned alive right before your eyes. Everything i look for in a series of "kids movies."

    • @zoetropeguardian
      @zoetropeguardian 16 днів тому

    • @zoetropeguardian
      @zoetropeguardian 4 дні тому

      @@trekkiejunk Have an argument rooted in subjectivity? I'm good. I'll keep to objective fact. Objective fact would point you to knowing he said he wouldn't take a five or six year old to Revenge of the Sith. He believed an eight or nine year old could handle it though. I was going on ten when I saw it and handled it. So his conviction was correct. And whose to say kids can't handle darker things? The first Harry Potter has someone's face and body burnt to crisp. A child is also abused by family members. No one disputes it's a story for kids though. Psychological studies have shown it's all about how violence is portrayed. You wouldn't take a kid to a Quentin Tarantino or John Woo film because these are the definition of stylised violence. Star Wars never had that except tipping that way with Anakin now Darth Vader being burnt intensely. That's the reason it was given a PG-13 instead of the usual for PG. A PG-13 Star Wars? That was so unusual at the time. This moment is important though as you have to see the consequences of his and your choices. Unless you think kids shouldn't see how their actions effect everything they do? Edit: I see from your other comment on this video you hate the Prequels. That explains it. Haha

    DISNEY MURDERED STAR WARS, THE BIGGEST FRANCHISE IN FILM HISTORY.

    • @BoothTheGrey
      @BoothTheGrey 20 днів тому

      In the end it was Lucas free decision to sell Star Wars to Disney. And especially he ALSO thought that Kathleen Kennedy would be the right person to be boss for Star Wars. In the end Lucas killed the franchise himself by chosing the wrong people to take over.

    • @zoetropeguardian
      @zoetropeguardian 16 днів тому

      @@BoothTheGrey It's understandable why he felt as though he could trust them. Kathleen Kennedy is close with Steven Spielberg and she worked with them both on Indiana Jones. A family member of hers is also who pulled him out of the car during his infamous accident. Likewise Bob Iger was head of ABC when George was making Young Indy. He was very supportive of it despite not so ideal ratings due to poor marketing not showing how it was a different type of story from the features. Despite this Bob Iger supported the show as long as it was viable. George also had a long history with Disney due to being there at the opening of Disneyland, Star Tours, Captain EO, etc.. Not to mention the success Disney had with a then hands on approach with Pixar, a company he founded, and even Marvel at the time. It's perfectly understandable why he felt they were the perfect fit to continue telling stories within his world. Unfortunately those we think have our best interests at heart don't always. Disney Star Wars may not last the test of time but George's work will remain timeless.

      @@zoetropeguardian I dont know Lucas - and I assume you dont know Lucas neither. I would suggest not to be too sure about what people feel or think you dont know at all... cause we all cant be too sure about people who are even really close to us. In the end... it doesnt matter that much WHY Lucas did what he did. He did it. Instead of supporting someone in his company to take over the lead... he sold the whole thing. Everybody who knows our economical system knows what this means. Lose any kind of control. He obviously wanted to get rid of the responsibility. And why not. And maybe... if he would have done a sequel himself the "fans" would have been even more upset. He clearly remembered what fans did after the prequels. And back then the internet was not unsocial media driven like 15 years later.

    • @zoetropeguardian
      @zoetropeguardian 16 днів тому

      @@BoothTheGrey These are reasons he himself has given apart from the car accident as that was something Kathleen Kennedy mentioned at the premiere of The Force Awakens. I read and watch anything I can find with him as he's my hero. Yes, he mentioned the critical reaction being a factor. It was also that he wanted to focus on raising his at the time newborn daughter, start a museum for art, and devote more time to philanthropic causes. He's had an educational foundation since the early 90's for example. He also donated money to NYU to start a school in recognition of his friend Martin Scorsese and has paid for the most film restorations through The Film Foundation. Amongst much, much more. I miss him greatly but I'm so glad we have his upcoming museum to look forward to seeing.

      @@zoetropeguardian Being philantropic when you are absurd rich is really easy. It just shows how deep he is connected to our economical model and supports it. Thats why I dont understand all the whining from "fans" about what is absolutely normal in our economical world. But... being "fan" of a guy who founded a corporation which made him a billionair... is beyond my understanding anyway. I dont "condemn" him - but Lucas is just another rich guy who created (with many others!) a good and absurdly successful entertainment product and exploited it. But thats kind of it. He really is more or less himself what he claimed to be against. Disney is no "enemy". Its just another corporation who does what huge corporations do... and what Lucas did a lot himself. Trying to make a lot money. I can only suggest to distance from those people. And understand that if you are "fan" of a corporation or a product of a corporation or a folk who founded a corporation... you are exactly the sort of consumer they want: An exploitable consumer. And in my opinion THIS is the main reason for "hate". Being a "fan" is sort of being in a toxic relationship where "love" sooner or later turns around in the opposite. But anyway. Thanks for your thoughts. I am cleary not the guy you or other "fans" usually want to talk to. Sorry I responded at all.

    This old man is 80? Listen to how coherent he sounds, how lively and active he seems, and yet you Americans insist your President, who needs assistance walking, and can barely speak, is capable and deserving of another term. Wow, no wonder everyone laughs at you Americans.

      No - most americans dont want Trump and neither Biden. The political and financial establishment obviously is absolutely unable to choose better candidates.

    23:30 - 24:05 George didn't buy flash Gordon because he wasn't making flash Gordon. Disney shouldn't have bought star wars if the didn't want to make star wars.

    It didn’t stop Star Wars fans being so toxic towards him though. They have contributed to his poor mental health. Nobody quite hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans. Ahmed Best will tell you the same. … and Hayden Christiansen … and John Boyega … and Daisy Ridley … and Kellie Marie Tran
